    We are proud to introduce this special tribute honoring Bobbys achievements. In the early 1930's, Jones conceived and helped design the Augusta National Golf Club.It was a very private course, built for Bobby and his friends. Augusta was his refuge.I like the human race as a tribe, but I prefer it in small doses he once said.Also included is an official US Postal Stamp featuring Bobbys classic swing. This 18 cent stamp was issued in 1981, ten years after his death and is the only stamp ever issued in honor of an amateur golfer.

  • Bobby's Youth

    Jones battled health issues as a young boy, and golf was prescribed to strengthen him. Encouraged by his father, Jones loved golf from the start. He developed quickly into a child prodigy, who won his first children's tournament at the age of six, and made the third round of the U.S. Amateur Championship at 14. That same year, 1916, he won the Georgia State Amateur Championship for his first important title, at the Capital City Club, in Brookhaven, where he became an active member later in life.
